Wow, it's been a while since I've posted an actual tutorial! Wait no longer!
My mom got this OshKosh onesie for Tugger last summer and it became a favorite! But as he's gotten taller, the onesie has gotten tighter and started ripping at the snaps. Then I had an epiphany! Why not cut it off at the legs and hem it up? After all, it still fits in the width. Voila, a new T-shirt!
This only took about 15 minutes to do! And I think it's pretty self explanatory, but I'll give you my step-by-step and tips.
Step 1: Start with a cute onesie. Rawr!
Step 2: Cut off at or just below the leg holes. Then trim it until it's even all around (sorry I didn't take a picture once it was even).
* If you need the extra length, you can pick the ribbing at the leg. That will add another 1/2 inch or so, and for this onesie I needed it!
Step 3: Turn shirt inside out and pin up about 1/4 to 1/2 an inch.
*Like I said above, this onesie was already a bit short, so I folded only 1/4 of an inch.
Step 4: Hem all the way around. Use a stretch stitch or zigzag so that it will be able to stretch! Also, make sure it overlaps the raw edge just a little bit and binds it into place.
*Note below how the raw edge is running down the middle of the zigzag.

And You're Done!
It turned out great! And I can think of a handful of other small onesies that will become tees in the near future! By the way, Tugger will be modeling my clothes from now on too, cause look at those skillz, just ignore the fact that he's only 2 1/2 feet tall!
Happy Weekend!
