Skinny Jeans Tutorial (refashion)

BOY OH BOY do I love how these turned out!!! I've had these jeans for a few years but I've barely worn them because when I caught the skinny jean fever I never looked back. Fortunately for me, I started reading fashion blogs and refashioning blogs, and it turns out EVERYONE has a tutorial for "skinnifying" your old flared jeans. Last summer, after seeing how easy it was, I took a stab at it with this pair of light grey slacks, making them sort of loose skinnies/straight legs.

Well now that spring is on it's way (so says that silly groundhog), I've really been in the mood for light blue denim and thought I'd better skinny these so that I would actually wear them again. And, even though there really are a thousand tutorials on how to do it, I thought you might like to see mine (crossing my fingers)!

1. Turn inside out, wear them, and pin them to the desired skinny-ness.

2. Sew along pin lines.

3. Zig-zag or Serge just to the outside of you straight seam.

4. Then trim the excess fabric right up to the zig-zag.

5. Style them (and take some dorky pictures)!

See how EASY that was, 30 minutes max! Now go get your flares, your bell bottoms, your wide-leg jeans, and all of your sister's too, and make you some skinnies. STAT.

Feel free to send questions my way!

  1. I love skinnies - and I never wear my flares. BUT I still love a wide leg/trouser jean for fancy-ish occasions.

  2. Yeah, some variety is nice and the wide leg trousers look great with heels!
