AVE LA: 10 Style Tips to Keep Cool in a Heat Wave

I'm starting off the Ave Style Reports with AVE | LA. The Southwest is currently sweltering and most places are over 100 degree's all week! If there is anything gals in the SW need right now, it's ways to stay cool, safe, and stylish during this heat wave. Click through to discover 10 tips to conquer this heat beast and still look like a beauty!

ONE
Drink water, water, water! There is nothing better for your health and beauty than this magic liquid. Drinking at least 8 cups a day is a must in the heat. Not only will this replenish your body's necessary water, but it will keep your face and skin fresh and plump. I like to carry a water bottle with me everywhere in the summer.

TWO
Plan your outdoor activities for early morning or late evening, then just stay out of the sun during the hottest part of the day. Heat exhaustion and heat stroke are real dangers when you are out for too long in such high temperatures. Be proactive and plan accordingly so you and your family can stay safe.

THREE
Change your make-up routine to include high SPF moisturizers. Also try using a tinted moisturizer in place of heavier make-up. This will keep you cooler and give you a stunning natural summer look.

FOUR
Wear clothing that does not require layering. Choose tops with necklines that aren't too low that you need extra coverage and if your t-shirt is a little see-through, try wearing a similar color bra so you can't see it through the shirt. {Maternity momma's: see this list of great summer maternity tops}

FIVE
Get in on the linen trend! Clothing made of linen or linen blends are wonderfully breathable, lightweight, and drape beautifully over all body types.

Did you stop to drink some water yet?

SIX
Go for hair styles that are off the neck and back. It's up to you how you do this, whether you choose wet hair stylesbraids, top knots, a long bob (lob), or a pixie cut, but I promise you'll be a lot less sweaty around your face and neck. {click the links for styling ideas for each}

SEVEN
Here's a fun one: Grab a smoothie + hang out at the mall. If you're really feeling cooped up during the heat (like I was just a couple days ago), how about some shopping in nice air conditioned stores? And if you're toting around kids in a stroller, make sure you include something to keep them occupied like the mini smoothies at Jamba Juice.

EIGHT
Eat more fresh fruit, veggies, and salads. Why? Because they're healthy, hydrating, and cold, working double duty for you're beauty and house temperature!

NINE
Don't forget your summer accessories: hats + sunglasses. Keeping cool can look so hot if you wear a cute straw hat and chic sunnies like these.

TEN
Moisturize continually, especially right after sun exposure to help your skin rejuvenate.

Do some of these tips, then go drink even more water, because I know you haven't had enough yet :)
