I've been doing some quick watercolor sketches of a dress idea I have. Maybe I should just stick to sewing, but watercolors seemed the best way to get a visual idea of what I'm thinking. This will be a jersey knit, knee length dress.
BUT... I'm torn between a couple of different color options. HELP!
The First Option: peach color top, olive color center, and a golden rod (mustard-ish) bottom.
The Second Option: The same peach color top, olive color center, but with black on the bottom.
While they are very similar, the bottom color does change the vibe ALOT! The first option seems perfect for this Fall season. The second option however, seems appropriate for many occasions and seasons.
ALSO, one more thing I've been pondering is whether to put ruching down the sides like this tutorial from Merrick's Art, or this asymmetrical option from the new 3.1 Phillip Lim collection at Target.
Leave your comments, help me decide! And of course there will be a tutorial to go along with the finished product!

First off, i love reading your blog! On to the question-- both color combos are cute! The first color combo is more modern and younger. The second color combo is predictable, and might age you a bit depending on fabric selection. Can't wait to see the finished product! :-)
ReplyDeleteThanks for reading! Yeah I definitely think option one is a bit more modern and and edgier, if you could really call a simple pencil dress edgy, lol!
DeleteI like option 2 more, but can't give a good reason why.
ReplyDeleteI can tell you why. Because I did a better job drawing and painting option two, haha, or at least Ithink I did.
