As you might recall, a few month ago I shared with you my fall/winter 2013 To Do List. And today I'm sharing a recap of everything I accomplished. I actually really whipped through a number of the items, though I've lacked the time to also give each one their own blog post. I've also crossed off a couple items that I've decided not to do, just for now anyway. So with that being said, I hope this post can cover all of those items, while still giving you ideas, inspirations, and some brief how-to's.
Sewing:
Finish our bedroom decor pillows.Decided I don't have the time for this one right now. We do have pillows to lay our heads on at night though, don't worry!Finish the blouse I was making from the pattern.I had more important items to finish for Christmas!- Make a quilt for Tugger, for a twin size bed. I still haven't complete this, since we decided not to switch him to a toddler bed until we move in about a year.
Teach a sewing class or two.DONE! I blogged about it HERE and HERE.Yellow quilt.DONE! This was such a fun project, and my first quilt too!Sew a dress from a pattern. SORT OF DONE, I did this COLOR BLOCK one that I patterned myself as I went.A few random clothing sewing ideas. So far, I've done THIS ONE and THIS ONE.- Infinity Scarf. NOPE, again I haven't done this one yet anyway.
Decorating:
Build/buy a shelf for above the kitchen sink, my inspiration.Decided not to do this.Under-sink storage for bathroom.DONE! And I did the kitchen, pictures below.Reorganize closets, sewing area, desk (this one is already in the works).Paint Tugger's dresser.Done.Redecorate Tugger's room.I've done a few things: the dresser, a new basket, some organization, but the quilt and a toddler be will have to wait.
Crafting:
DIY plain grey and burgundy sweatshirts into graphic prints, like this and this.DONE! I decided just to do the grey one, you can see the tutorial HERE.Finish Tugger's baby book and start/finish our wedding album!DONE! Well the one for Tugger anyway, I'm working on a wedding album and start a family yearbook too. Check out MIXBOOK where I made and printed Tuggers.Acid wash denim (definitely a maybe project).Decided not to do this right now... but maybe this spring!Fall Wreath DIY, I like this one in a different color maybe.SORT OF DONE! I actually did something different for fall, you can see it below.Fall/Winter knitting projects.DONE. I made some really cute stuff this year. A hat for the hub, one for me and one for my little sis for Christmas. I really want to make a tutorial but it's a bit late in the winter for that, maybe next winter, cause who knit in the spring/summer anyway? Not this girl!
So on to the pictures, inspiration, and descriptions!
This is not the fall wreath I had in mind originally, but this is where I ended up. This is much less time consuming than the other, and I'm happy with it!
The under sink shelves may not be the coolest project I've had the pleasure to do, but come on, EVERYONE needs more out of sight storage solutions! Am I right!
The process was fairly simple. I used 1"x12" board cut to cupboard width from side to side, little shelf pins, a level and a drill. All you need to do is take some measurements to determine where to drill and place the tacks, then put the board in place! It's an inexpensive yet very effective and durable storage solution.
Tugger's dresser was the first check mark on the list, but I still haven't finished the feet, because the old feet are really stuck on there. This isn't at the top of my list, so I've been doing other things lately. I really love how the dresser turned out, and cant wait to get pictures of it all set up with Tugger's new quilt too! If you're curious what steps I took to paint and finish it, feel free to comment or email!
Here's the color block dress I mentioned above, and you can see the tutorial HERE!
Another random sewing project from this fall was my raglan sleeve top, HERE. Trust me, this shirt is simply the best, comfiest, and dressiest trifecta of shirts! Try it.
The yellow quilt turn out so soft and cute! I seriously wanted to keep it for myself, but knew it would be perfect for my little niece!
Finally, the graphic print sweatshirt, a large initial "E". It turned out amazing, I love it! The process is just like this one I made last February, or you can just view the tutorial HERE.
Now that you made it through that monster, go forth and enjoy your Presidents Day holiday, everyone in the U.S. of A. that is!
